SATurdays are Comin'

With the beginning of a new school year, numerous students are beginning to prepare for the SAT. SAT results are often looked at as a major deciding factor for colleges to choose applicants. The more prestigious colleges will not accept anyone with a score under their expectations.
This significant exam consists of three major sections including Math, Critical Reading, and Writing with 800 possible |
points to gain in each section. Days of testing range throughout the whole year in seven test dates. The SAT pretty much evaluates all the knowledge you have accumulated over the course of your high school classes.
“Some people do not have to study for this test at all because although the exam tests your knowledge, it also makes you apply that knowledge into these questions,” said Junior Dhaval Shah.
An abundance of students actually do seek help with this exam and may find assistance through our schools introductory course, cram sessions at other establishments, or even private tutoring. However, the cost of these courses are also eminent so some choose to buy review books and study on their own.
“It doesn’t really matter whether you go to the most prestigious prep courses or whether you study on your own with a review book. What’s key is your input to how hard you work to achieve the score you desire,” said senior Nithin Sunilkumar.
Many students who plan to take part in this exam during their junior and senior years may experience relatively high stress levels. The main reasons for this stress is the weight of this exam and how burdensome it is when combined with regular schoolwork.
“With all of this work from our classes and commitments to extracurricular activities, adding SAT prep in the mix is very stressful. I believe that the same can be said for many other students in my grade,” said Junior Jerryl Abraham.
However, there are those choose not to take the time to prepare and decide to pay people to take their exams. This practice has been revealed to have been taken place numerous times but recent exploited events in Great Neck South High School brought these corrupt activities to light and doubled the security measures of the exam. Due to this drastic change in security, it is implausible for any attempt of fabricating results so students have no choice but to do what was supposed to be done in the first place which is to prepare extensively.
It is advised that students should take this exam. Although it is allowed, taking this test one to two times is encouraged. Most people would say that taking the exam 2-3 times is the best. There is also the ACT which can be an alternative to this exam.
Any more questions can be asked to individuals who have taken the exam themselves, parents, guidance counselors, teachers, or anyone with knowledge about this test who can help you. On a happier note, the scores on this exam will accommodate your goals as long as hard work is involved and you do your best.
